Artist: Arthur Benjamins Driver: Michael Schumacher Dimensions: 18.5″ x 22″
This print is from a painting by Dutch artist Arthur Benjamins done in 1994. The print edition is limited to 750. The scene portrays the great, now seven time World Champion Michael Schumacher in his early days, driving the Bennetton B 194 racing machine en route to his first Formula One World Championship. 1994 was a tragic season which saw Schumacher begin his meteoric rise to the top of Formula One racing. He won the opening two races, and was chasing the legendary Ayrton Senna at Imola when the Brazilian suffered a fatal crash. But thereafter, though Schumacher became the new yardstick for excellence, controversy was never far away. The Benetton team was accused of cheating that year, but even after a three-race ban for ignoring a black flag, Schumacher finally won his first title, though only after pushing Damon Hill off the road.
