Refueled and re-armed the Mark 1 spitfires of 610 Squadron are depicted scrambling out of RAF Hawkinge in late August 1940. Roaring off the grass runway with their gun ports covered with scarlet patches they will soon be in the midst of the fray. This was indeed their finest hour.
