This painting shows British driver Colin Davis in the factory entered 1964 Porsche 904 GTS-005, the fifth one ever built. His co- driver was Antonio Pucci. They came in first overall at the 1964 Targa Florio. Another factory 904 also came in second place driven by Herbert Linge, a regular Porsche factory driver. The Ferrari factory team did not enter any prototype cars, but it’s safe to say that the little 2-Liter Porsche beat all the Ferrari GTO’s that entered and Shelby’s Cobra roadsters, fair and square. The Cobra roadsters were driven by world class drivers, such as Phil Hill and Dan Gurney and Bob Bondurant and still the Porsches came in 1st and 2nd. This was a major victory for the Porsche team in 1964.
