Stunning Original Painting of the waves rolling in and crashing at the beach in this waterfront setting by Robert Lewis one of the 26 Highwaymen artists.
Meticulously custom framed this Lewis work was done in the the early 1990’s period reasonably after the Gary Monroe Highwaymen book had been released.
This is one of my favorite paintings from my Highwaymen collection.

The Highwaymen, also known as Florida Highwaymen, were a group of 26 talented black artists that emerged as prolific painters in spite of segregation in the south in the late Jim Crow era. The Highwaymen recaptured attention in the 1990’s as more people recognized the significance of both regional art and the contributions of African American artists.
