Artist: Simon Ward
Dimensions: 16″x 20″
This beautiful print is taken from an original painting by famed English racing artist, Simon Ward, and commissioned by Freck’s Auto Art, Inc. The scene memorializes the great Swedish racing champion Ronnie Peterson, driving from pole position to victory in the 1978 Austrian Grand Prix at Osterreichring. Ronnie was teamed with Mario Andretti in 1978 and together they dominated the season in the Lotus 79, with Peterson scoring a pair of spectacular wins and Andretti going on to win the F-1 World Championship title. Peterson acted the loyal number two, but there were times when his brilliance could not be masked. Sadly, Ronnie Peterson died later that same year from injuries sustained at the Italian Grand Prix at Monza. One of the most promising Grand Prix race drivers in history is still missed by fans all over the world. In remembrance of their friend and teammate, Mario Andretti and Emerson Fittipaldi have autographed a limited number of these prints. Complementary color photographs are included with purchase of autographed copies.
