The Sicilian Tifosi were fiercely loyal to their local hero Nino Vaccarella at the Targo Florio. The graffitti on the building says it all for the locals, but it didn’t matter to Gulf-Porsche drivers Jo Siffert and Brian Redman. In the Porsche 908/3’s debut race, Siffert and Redman led a 1-2 sweep over teammates Pedro Rodriguez and Leo Kinnunen in an identically prepared 908/3 with the Ferrari of Nino Vaccarella and Ignazio Giunti came home third. This piece depicts Jo Siffert rounding Vaccarella’s Collesano hairpin during the 1970 Targo Florio.
